Smiling - it's infectious

Smiling is infectious.
You catch it like the flu.
When someone smiled at me today
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner.
Someone saw my grin.
When he smiled , I realised
I'd passed it onto him
I thought about that smile,
Then I realised it's worth.
A single smile, just like mine
Could travel round the earth.
So if you feel a smile begin
Don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic
quick.
And get the world infected.

For the younger Guides their theme for the first term back was 'Friend-ship'.  The Churchill and Hazelwood Girl Guides Thinking Day of 2004 focused on a Guides Own with the theme 'Links of Unity' - which happened to also include the theme 'friendship'.  The older Guides theme was 'Getting it together'

During this Thinking Day [World Guide Day] Guides Own one of the Guides read out this 'Smile' poem as her contribution. As the poem was read the Guides shook hands with friendship and smiled.  Soon the handshaking had also become contagious.

Some of the Guides had been using the Friendship theme and the Thinking Day preparations and activities towards their Peak Achievement Badges [Junior B.P. and B.P.] While others allocated their activities to Explore: friends, World and Guiding.  A few had fun deciding how to place theirs in the Challenge section.  The Guide who read this out placed here under the  'Girls' Challenge.
